Constructed in 1979 as a facility for the Sixth South Pacific Games,the National Stadium has recently been upgraded to include a new roof as well as a new world class track. the Stadium features a grand stand that can seat up to 4000 and an embankment that can accommodate another 15,000 spectators. the Stadium has hosted a number of international competitions including the Rugby World Sevens tournament that was held consecutively in Fiji in 1999
