HEALTH & SAFETY AT WORK POLICY

(HEALTH & SAFETY AT WORK ACT, 1996)


The Management of the Fiji Sports Council is totally committed to the provision of a place of work that is safe and without risk to the health, safety and welfare of its employees and non-employees at our work place.

Fiji Sports Council is committed to actively promote the health and safety of its employees in the workplace and to prevent work-related injuries through continuous improvement of our working conditions, practices, and environment to Best Practice Standards by providing:

  • Safe and Health System of work;
  • Safe premises, equipment and handling substances;
  • Facilities for the welfare of workers and non-workers at the workplace;
  • Such information on instructions for training and supervision in the appropriate spoken languages;
  • Personal protective equipment.

And Management, including supervisors, are responsible and accountable for implementing this policy.

Workers are required to:

  • Cooperate with Management; and
  • Take care of equipment and substances provided in the interest of health and safety.

Contractors, Customers and Visitors are required to:

  • Take all reasonable care of their health and safety at Company’s workplace; and
  • Cooperate with Management and workers on their duty of care under the Act.

Management shall consult and cooperate with Health and Safety Committee in health and safety matters as provided under Section 21 of the Act and the Health and Safety at Work (Representatives and Committees) Regulation 1997.

This Policy commits the Fiji Sports Council and all its entirety, including areas where employees are required to work off-site.

This Policy will be periodically reviewed to ensure its efficiency and effectiveness.
